The harvest season is starting in Montonale: on the hills overlooking Lake Garda, in the Lugana territory, thirty harvesters are working in the vineyards surrounding the winery.
"The vine growing season started 10 days later than in 2017," says agronomist Valentino Girelli, "but the budding was regular and the blooming flourishing. At the beginning of the season, the generous rain allowed the plants to save a good supply of water, which proved to be providential for the dry month of August. The quality expected is excellent, and the quantity as well, considering that the hail spared us ».
The winemaker Roberto Girelli is optimistic as well: «Pre-harvest analyses show encouraging data: perfect acidity, rich minerality and round structure. From the early morning hours we are collecting the bunches of Turbiana for Luce d’Alba, our Metodo Classico. Then we will pick the grapes for Montunal and, at the beginning of October, for Orestilla. The fermentation will occur, as always, with local yeasts: we want our wines to be a truthful expression of our territory».
