With autumn returns the desire for full-bodied, velvety wines to pair with the invigorating seasonal dishes.
Montonale responds to this desire with La Conta, just presented in the new vintage 2017. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70 percent) and Merlot (30 percent) which, after two years of aging between tonneau and bottle, reveals in the glass a wide range of sensations - from ripe red fruit to spices - emphasized by the slight withering of Merlot.
Behind the name of the wine there is a tender family memory: La Conta is nothing but the family’s first vineyard, ploughed by hand, in total solitude, by the great-grandfather Francesco over a century ago.
A memory produced in very limited quantities: only five thousand bottles, sought after by lovers of Bordeaux blends with an unexpected approach, as recurring in the Montonale household.
