We enthusiastically accepted the invitation of Vinicio Zanetti, supervisor of the Magenta delegation of the AIS Milano, to present our Lugana in a dedicated meeting at their headquarters.
The very pleasant evening, carefully described in the article by Danilo Nervetti "Il Lugana di Montonale alla prova del tempo", gave Roberto Girelli, winemaker and co-owner, the opportunity to illustrate the territory, philosophy and production method of our Turbiana based wines, then leaving ample space for tasting.
After tasting Primessenza, our champagne method white wine, we moved on to tasting three vintages of Montunal, the classic version of Lugana, and another three vintages of Orestilla, the single-vineyard Lugana: the vintages currently on the market and two mature ones (in particular 2021 and 2018 by Montunal and 2020 and 2017 by Orestilla).
The objective of the evening is to make a particularly attentive audience, such as that of sommeliers, evaluate the evolutionary capacity of Lugana, still too often considered a wine to be consumed only in its youth.
The very flattering impressions of the tastings seem to confirm the vision of Montonale, explained by Roberto Girelli during the evening: "Our ambition is to give rise to wines with an identity and longevity, capable of enriching themselves over time".
